Fun At The Fair

This past Friday was no school so I took the kids to the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair & Exposition. Kids meaning all 5 of them 20, 18, 12, 11 & 8. Friday was come in your school uniform shirt day and you get in free instead of paying $10.00 each. I am always looking for a bargain. We got there at 12:00pm when they opened and stayed until 7:30pm. Hey my mom did that for us when we were little so why not. The Fair is on the grounds of Florida International University and has LIVE! entertainment, state-of-the-art rides, skill games, outrageous fair foods and livestock/agricultural competitions. This place is not for the faint of heart. The kids went on every ride possible from giant slides to water rides and of course the roller coasters. This was the first year that we didn't have to go to the kiddy rides since my little one is now a big girl. I had to play the games that you know you aren't going to win but play anyway. Of course we ate fair food (calories) cotton candy, roasted corn, elephant ears, polish sausage, homemade lemonade, soda and the killer Krisy Kreme Donut Hamburger w/ bacon & cheese (1100 calories) which the lady who gave it to us told me ,why I don't know no one asked but anyway. They have a lot of live stock cows, horses, chickens, rabbits, pigs, guinea pigs & the cutest is they have an area you can watch chickens hatching. We watched an ice skating show by Hot Miami Ice anything to get out of the 80 plus degrees outside. They had a pig race but it was starting to get a little rowdy so we decided it was time to leave. They had a blast and actually came home and went straight to bed after a shower of course. I have been going to this fair since I was little and it is great to see that not everything has to change.
