The History of Me in Music

Music has been a big part of my life from the time I was a baby. When I was little I would watch my mom getting ready to go out and dancing in the house to music.

Kenya Moore Booty Bootcamp Review

If you know me you know I love The Real Housewives Series and one of my favorites is Atlanta. I think Kenya Moore former Ms. USA is a great addition this season. That being said when I was asked by the wonderful @bookieboo from Mamavation if I wanted to review her DVD Kenya Moore: Booty Boot Camp , I was like "YEAH" I want a stallion booty.

My New Years Traditions

New York Times Square

I like to bring a little from all over the world to my New Years Eve traditional party that I have every year. I buy fireworks, party hats, streamers, noise makers, sparkling apple juice, Sidra ( Spanish Apple Cider ), red & green grapes, every appetizer possible & a giant cookie clock. We have music on all night & watch Dick Clark in New York and at 12 watch the Apple drop. Since my kids were little we have done this sometimes they fall asleep before 12 but I always wake them up to get a kiss and do the countdown. A little before 12 I pass out glasses with 12 grapes and we eat them at every strike of the clock, we also sing Auld Lang Syne at least the first few lines. Then we give each other a kiss and call all the family not with us. I also throw a bucket of water out of the house. I like to have the house as clean as possible & a wallet or purse full of money. The next day I make white rice, black eyed peas, collard greens & ham . As you can tell I have a smorgasbord of traditions so all my bases are covered. What traditions do you have ?

#Mamavation Monday

I never make resolutions for the simple fact that by the second week in January they have been broken. This year I will not make resolutions that I do not intend to keep. I will make some and will keep them no matter what. I have to take care of myself first just like when you are on a plane and the flight attendants tell you to put the oxygen mask on yourself before you put it on your kids. So here we go...

1. I will break a REAL sweat for at least 45   minutes a day
2. I will take 15 minutes for "ME" time everyday
3. I will cut out all sugary drinks
4. I will make vegetables my main course and build around that
5. I will eat cut out processed foods and eat clean

I applied for the Mamavation Bootcamp  and the Omron Strapless Heart Rate Monitor Fitness Challenge so if I get to be a part of any of these or both of these I will have the support & backing to keep me on track.

Giving is so much better

We have had an extra dining room set with 6 chairs & a china cabinet for about 9 months that I wanted to give to a family that needed it. I didn't want to donate it and have it sold for profit. I have asked around at churches, friends, schools & City Hall and always got " Don't know anyone but I can take it". That wasn't cutting it. Finally I found someone who is struggling and just bought her first house. She was telling me how long she had to save for & just got beds for her kids. BINGO I asked her if she had or needed a dining room set. Before I finished she had tears in her eyes and came over 3 hours later in a truck to get it. That was my Christmas Gift to myself her expression and knowing that her family will now have a table to eat dinner at and do other things families take for granted.

OH Christmas Tree OH Christmas Tree

Tree in Living Room
The decorations have been up for a while now. My poor Christmas tree needs CPR . It has been up since Thanksgiving and has been used as a playground by my new puppy. She finds the water great to drink and underneath it a great hiding place from my bigger dogs (3) which of course they follow her and in the process half the ornaments have broken. Oh yeah she finds Christmas lights also fun so she ate through some. The kids tree has been saved from her maybe because that one is fake. Outside hasn't been any better. Where we live there are wonderful  possums & raccoon's that : A. find lights fun to chew on , B. like the taste of poinsettias. So I have decided that this year after Christmas I am hitting all the stores up and getting a whole lot of decorations for next year and retiring most of the ones I have.

Happy Birthday to My BABY

1st Photo 8 lbs 5 oz
My baby Christina Faith was born 9 years ago today at 2:15 pm. She was induced  because her due date was on the 25th & I wanted her to be the STAR of the day. The 19th was perfect because I would have enough time to come home with her and wrap presents, cook & bake for a GREAT CHRISTMAS. She has been a blessing everyday since. Christina is the baby of the family which she doesn't like because she says she missed all the things we did before her. She loves everything sports, dancing, music, singing, baking and especially her family & dogs. Christina is a mini version of myself and I can only imagine what the future holds for her. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my favorite girl , Mommy LOVES you.

Mamavation Monday- What a Week

This past week has been full of highs and lows. I was officially welcomed into the Mamavation Sistahood which was a high. My youngest daughter who is 8 will be having a birthday on the 19th so she wanted to go to Disney World & Medieval Times so we went there this past weekend another HIGH . But on Friday before we left the TERRIBLE news at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newton, CT was heard all around the world. It literally knocked the wind out of me. I felt that we just didn't have a right to have fun and laugh over the weekend. I didn't want to ruin my daughters Birthday weekend so we still went but I could not help and listen over & over again the news. The pictures were heartbreaking and I explained to my kids what happened & how now those 20 kids & 6 adults were now Angels.  Moving forward is what we all have to do and being there for our kids is a MUST. One way to do that is by being the best ME I can be and that is by being present & healthy. This week Mamavation TV is all about bringing the outdoors in with gardening and how to do it in your own backyard. No acres and acres necessary. I look forward to hearing all about gardening ,I have always wanted to do it but don't consider myself having a Green Thumb.

Beautiful Poem for Angels of #SandyHook

twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38 when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate. their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air. they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there. they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say. they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day. "where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse. "this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house." when what to their wondering eyes did appear, but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near. He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same. then He opened His arms and He called them by name. and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring those children all flew into the arms of their King and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace, one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face. and as if He could read all the questions she had He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad." then He looked down on earth, the world far below He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand, "Let My power and presence re-enter this land!" "may this country be delivered from the hands of fools" "I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!" then He and the children stood up without a sound. "come now my children, let me show you around." excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran. all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can. and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight, "in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT." You know when you keep telling yourself "I just gained a couple of pounds" and those couple of pounds turn into a couple of 10's & 20's. Where that is where I am I have gained 60 lbs. and they aren't cute either. I never had a weight problem growing up as a matter of fact after having my kids I would just "Bounce" back. Well my last baby is now turning 9 next week and the only thing bouncing is my stomach & butt. I need someone to YELL, ENCOURAGE & MOTIVATE me to do it. The Mamavation sisterhood is just that group of people I want on my team. For the past 6 months I have followed a few of them and see the way they congratulate & praise the members. This is the year of "REBECCA" and I expect nothing less.

Peppermint Bark by My 8 yr old

My daughter has turned into a little baker recently. So everyday for the last week we have been baking something different. So far we have made  pies, a cobbler, cake, bundt cake , cookies & this peppermint bark. This recipe only needed 3 ingredients and no baking at all.
                              PEPPERMINT BARK:
2 1/2 cups of milk chocolate chips
2 1/2 cups of white chocolate chips
                      7 candy canes

1. Melt 3/4 cups of milk chocolate chips at 1 time in the microwave for 45 seconds take out mix and keep adding and microwaving until they are all melted and smooth

2. Pour in into a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper then refrigerate for 10 minutes
3 . Meanwhile take the plastic off the candy canes and smash them this can be done by putting them in a zip lock bag & using a mallet or rolling pin

 4. Now melt the white chocolate the same way & pour it on the milk chocolate sprinkle the crushed candy canes on top & refrigerate for 20 minutes

5. Now break it into pieces we did this by dropping it on the counter then putting the large pieces in a bag and banging it a few times.

They can be given out as gifts in cute bags or saved for yourself to snack on.

Gingerbread Bundt Cake and Caramel Icing

This Bundt cake is super easy and was made using Torani Syrups . These yummy syrups added wonderful flavoring and gave it a great color.

1 (8oz) package cream cheese
3 sticks of butter
3 cups of sugar
6 eggs
1 cup of Torani Gingerbread Syrup
3 cups of cake flour

Preheat oven to 325. Cream the butter, sugar and cream cheese. Add the eggs one at a time and gradually add the Torani gingerbread syrup mixing well. Add the flour to the batter and mix well.Pour batter into greased bundt pan and bake in center of over for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Let it cool in pan for 20 minutes then remove and cool on a wire rack.
6 Ingredients
Mixing Batter

Pour into bundt pan
Cooling on rack

Caramel Icing:

1/2 cup Sugar free Salted Caramel Syrup
1 cup powered sugar

Mix syrup and powered sugar until nice & smooth. You can pour it on a completely cooled cake however it will soak up the icing better if the cake is still warm.

I doubled the icing and poured it on while warm & again while it was cool. We ate it with a tall glass of cold milk.

*** This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks and Torani I was gifted 2 bottles of Torani to come up with a recipe which was made by me
